On Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 3.30 pm Peter Krämer got honored in the Cathedral of Berlin

Mr. Krämer receives the special prize “Pro Humanitate” (for Humanity) from the European Cultural Foundation “Pro Europa” (under the patronage of the Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament). Former  laureate were Simon Wiesenthal, Daniel Barenboim, Caritas International and “Bread for the World”. At the same time, in addition to the choir of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, the President of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Mr. Bischof. Wolfgang Huber. At his request, the eulogy of Mr. Krämer will be held by the Head of School of the European School in Hamburg, Gymnasium Hamm and a South African classmate. The reason for the award is Krämer`s commitment as the founder of the project “Schools for Africa”, the world’s most successful, privately initiated campaign in the field of education. Together with Unicef International and patron Nelson Mandela and his foundation, over $ 70 million US was raised in just four years, which helped build or reconstruct 700 schools in civil war regions, train 80,000 teachers, drill wells, and build sex-segregated toilets. Due to the great success of the initiative, five new countries have enrolled to be assisted by the foundation.
